Job Overview Working under general supervision, the Financial Accountant I supports Wawanesa’s operations by ensuring thetimely and accurate processing of, and communications regarding specified accounting functions.
Compensation: Depends on experience and varies by location.
Colorado Compensation: The pay range for this position is $23.
87 - $37.
60 per hour, depending on experience.
This position is considered non-exempt for purposes of wage-hour law, which means you are eligible for overtime pay for hours worked in excess of 40 hours in a workweek or more than 12 hours in a workday.
Nevada Compensation: The pay range for this position is $25.
06 - $37.
60 per hour, depending on experience.
This position is considered non-exempt for purposes of wage-hour law, which means you are eligible for overtime pay for hours worked in excess of 40 hours in a workweek.
Washington Compensation: The pay range for this position is $23.
87 - $35.
81 per hour, depending on experience.
This position is considered non-exempt for purposes of wage-hour law, which means you are eligible for overtime pay for hours worked in excess of 40 hours in a workweek.
Job Responsibilities Monitor activity and initiate appropriate action in areas such as void and stop payments, bank exceptions,and claims payment activities.
Assist with general/sub ledger and bank account reconciliations.
Assist with workpaper preparation/roll forward/data input as requested.
Assist Home Office and/or Accounting Department project/IS support leaders as needed.
Support software system implementations including but not limited to user acceptance testing.
Manage all required aspects of unclaimed property tracking and reporting.
Manage vendor information and changes.
Manage levies, inclusive of noting and monitoring Federal, State, EDD, and BOE levies.
File required information to the IRS, inclusive of assisting vendors with forms and related questions.
Code and submit required accounts payable invoices pay files.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Bachelor of Arts/Science degree with a concentration in Accountancy, Finance and/or Economics ispreferred.
1-2 years of Accounting experience is required with experience within the Financial Services Industrypreferred.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, email and web-based applications.
Experience working with claims processing with a strong understanding of claims systems preferred.
Ability to conduct limited data research, determine data appropriateness, identify issues, and acceptguidance on complex issues.
Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to express ideas clearly and at the right levelfor the audience.
Ability to identify when action is needed and request guidance as needed to develop an action plan.
Ability to work in a team environment and commit to team goals.
Ability to review work product carefully to ensure accuracy of data.
Position requires the ability to lift 1-10 lbs.

Position requires mobility throughout the branch buildings to meet internal customer demands.
Position requires moving storage boxes or picking up record keeping logs or binders as needed.
Experience with Claim Center would be considered an asset.
