*Job Overview*
The Accounting Assistant is responsible for full-charge bookkeeping including all aspects of financial record keeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking, and online bill-paying.
*Essential Functions*
*1.
Financial (90%) *Responsible for accounts payable and receivable.
Assist Financial / HR Specialist with monthly reports for library board meetings.
Responsible for payroll and all reporting pertaining to payroll.
Manages petty cash and cash on hand at libraries.
*2.
Administrative Services (10%) *Assists in scheduling meetings, filing documents and distributing documents, and preparing materials as requested by the Financial / HR Specialist.
May assist with coordination of district events.
*3.
*Other duties as assigned.

Guidelines and results of work are defined.
Determines how to accomplish tasks.
*Supervisory Responsibility*
None
*Education and Experience Required*
Requires a two-year degree in bookkeeping and two years of experience.
Experience in governmental accounting preferred.
Experience with payroll systems and reporting required.
Experience may be substituted for a degree.
*Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities*
● Thorough knowledge of QuickBooks.
● Working knowledge of Excel and Google Docs.
● Ability to produce accurate financial reports.
● Attention to detail and accuracy.
● Excellent customer service skills.
● Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
● Maintains a high degree of integrity and confidentiality.
● Ability to deal cooperatively with others.
● Excellent organizational skills.
*Work Environment*
Position requires being up and moving around the Library and at times stationary at work station.
The job requires stooping, bending, squatting, stretching.
Occasional lifting, such as three or four reams of paper, four or five books, or other materials (up to 25 pounds) may be required.
Required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (with keyboard, shelving), eye-hand coordination, data entry and computer use for accessing information.
Should be conscious of appropriate ergonomics and workstation setup.
